At Tiffany’s

Jul 14

Fatima believes that JUST by remaining silent or not ‘really’ fighting, screaming, and cursing (when you mean it) it does not automatically mean you have never been mad or gotten into a fight with someone. Yesterday was one of those days, where I did not get into a fight :)

Yazan felt like hurting me (I presume) but instead took his face and gave the VERY VERY Heavy door a huge head butt. He had to leave work today early to goto the hospital. (He head butted incorrectly it seems) -

The beautful thing was, OF COURSE the fight (which I did not have ANYTHING to do with) did not accomplish anything (I only get more obnoxious when I am busy not fighting).

I have SO SO SO SO SO SO SO SO SO much gas.

Oh, when I woke up this morning to put on some clothes, I checked on the status of my clotes in the balconey - and they were ALL over the place, lukcy it did not fall over and on the roof of the nighebors parlor. but somme of them were USABLE and dry! So I successfully did my laundy (while not having fought).

Many people predict I am going to get the biggest ‘ass wooping’ of my life one day…

Other famous people who have been within one inch of ‘using aggression’ against me are:
1. Abul Layth (of course)
2. Acey (surprise, surprise!)
3. My Cousin (but I was to young, so he punched out a hole in his wall instead).

I did the laundy today. ON MY OWN. I had been without clean clothes for a few days (weeks added by Adi the Vet). Then today, after waking up - I decided ok, I am going to ‘make something of my life’ So I gathered ALL of my clothes - (that were dirty) and put them in a clothes basket. Then I walked down to the place where you can have them dry cleaned to negotiate how many of them they would wash for me (and clean, iron, etc.) - but in general, I kinda assumed that they would not do the socks, undergarments, etc. so I put them in a NOTHER pile.

So, of coruse, since its Friday - it was closed! So, I came back and sat around looking for how to feel like I am going to do something GOOD today. Well, I still had my under garment pile that I could take care of today - and I could take the other clothes to the dry clean place tommorrow.

So, I got out some clorox bleach, some tide powder - and I boiled a HUGE pot of water (I have no hot water still). Then I googled for this tutorial: (I had nevr washed by HANDS, so I needed to learn how).

Then, I added the boiling water and I added the regular water and the clothes and the bleach and the powder. And of course, it was haf whites - half NON whites - BUT THERE WAS NO WAY ON EARTH I WAS GOING TO DO two piles of clothes. Then I told Adi the Vet to buy me a pair of yellow gloves (as the tutorial said, if you use bleachYOU NEED gloves).

So I washed them, then i rang them - all of the colors are mixed - and they are HANGING on my balconywaiting to dry.

It will take a few days for it to be dry and tommorrow, i will have my shirts, etc. arranged by a cleaning company. Ibrahims shirt which I thought was one f my undergarments is now a TYE dye shirt.

Sas.

BUT I DID THE LAUNDY.

I usually can’t find it in me to even blog or let alone FIND something to blog about. the last entry i wrote, i did not even feel like completing - but but but -

since i am POOR, and have no money, i am waiting for my friend to finish his meeting up so we can leave together (and he can pay for the taxi, we live ‘muqabil’ from each other).

So part Two of my Drama Queenness -

After being dismayed that I was spotted as a foriegner, we got to talking in my broken arabic and his broken english (oh yea, I have pretty much given up on learning arabic, its easier to not), but BROKEN arabic AND BROKEN english is FUN! I have to use broken english sometimes to communicate and I am becoming a mac daddy in it.

So, - It turns out he is an Avid Pink Floyd Fan, I said, Ta’rif Pink Floyd, and he smiled like of course, and he went on to mention he loved them.

It turns out he is from the west bank (and an older man) - and he used to go to this place called the Danish Cafe and drink his coffee there and he heard pink floyd over there. He had some questions about them, such as did they break up, or are they still together. He siged with the answer saying, well thats life (in arabic, hai hayat?) -

And he went on to have a lot to say about it and was impressed that they got together for a charity style event even though there is bad blood between them, etc.

All in all, since I was going to work VERY late that day, after a nice COLD shower (we have no hot water), and a nice hot cup of tea and an actual 10+ hours of sleep - to find an older palestinian man who was all chillaxed about life, and who liked pink floyd it was sort of weird since everyone else around me is so NOT like him.

So, ‘thats life’

OH WAIT, on the other hand, today the taxi driver who took me to work, he blabbed away in arabic for at least 2 minutes about how he eats two apples a day, and that they cost him a HALF JD (he was upset about it a bit) but that he ‘lazim’ eat them anyway since he eats two a dat BEFORE he realized i am not an arab. My “ghardenz” did not betray me.

But when I said oh, yea you eat Apples, I drink TWO coctails a day, I said coctails wrong, its ‘coulktayl’? in arabic. He knew i was not an arab.

Ok, so Jordan is mostly a Palestinian, Jordanian, Shaam styled country. So many taxi drivers are from those areas, and tend to prefer those ’styles’ of ‘things’ - and I look typically jordanian, (well apparently I look like every kind of arab sometimes). Yesterday, a Saudi guest of ours was sure that I looked like some famous egyptian, while the day before someone was SURE i was from saudi, and every Jordanian thinks I am from Jordan or Palestine. So, I always try different ways of speaking to see how long I can get by being considered an ‘Arab.

So I got in the car this morning and in my most trying voice, (but then again my clothes may have given it away, no one seems to wear jeans and sweat shirts here) I said, ‘as-salaamu ‘alaikum’ - and I said, “Ghardenz” (the jordanian/arabic way of saying ‘Gardens’), and this late aged man, laughed and said, Green or Yellow? (Gardens is a famous street in Amman, that everyone in the world knows).

So, after I said, “green” (with a smile) - he said, or maybe “Pink”, and then he Added Pink Floyd.

Firstly, I was HEAVILY dismayed that I could not even pull off a Salams and “Ghardenz” without being spotted as a NON Native speaker in less than 3 seconds.

And the rest I will continue later (I have to go).

My next door neightboor is 21 years old, in school, etc., lets call him Yazan My roomate is a 2 6year old veterenarian, lets call him Adee.

The veterenarian likes to sleep peacefully and easily, and the student likes to do things on the Internet online (and i am VERY constipated), and he tends to make a lot of noise.

Yazan wanted to come later on at night when we were asleep and do some stuff on the Net.

So, my roomate told Yazan when he came in, ‘leave’, don’t come here - Yazan said, don’t talk to me like that when your not the owner - so then they turned to me and said, do you mind if I am here/do you mind if he is here - I said no. Then they cursed each other in arabic, threw some medicine at each other, etc. (it almost hit my laptop and I moved it out of the way to the other room) and then they were in each others faces - and then the vet backed down because he did not want to get into a physical fight.

So yazan came to the other room and asked me if i mind him being there, I said, do as you like - so he said ok, and he took ALL of the house keys with him, so Adee could NOT lock him out of the house.

Then After yazan left, Adee said, ‘anyway, I will lock the office’ and goto sleep and ‘lock my room with the keys to the office’

So Yazan stole the keys only to have Adee lock him out of the office, so that when Yazan came over later on [I was sitting up by myself] he could not get in to the office.

For YEARS i stood by Savage Garden and defended them as a legitimate band (they were my all time favorite band) - And I did have something of a massive crush on him probably (I had tons of pictures of him on my computer) -

And he turned out to have married his boyfriend of two years! (I Just learned this)
